Why Attend Art School?
Art school is not just a way to pursue your hobbies - it is the beginning of honing
your skills to become a sought-after artisan. Art schools can offer you the critical
feedback you need to develop as an artist, while also connecting you with real world
artists and art institutions that could lead to jobs upon graduation. In addition,
many art degree programs insist you have training in computer software and other
technical skills that are a great addition to any resume.
Choosing the Right Art Degree
Art schools offer a number of different degrees in art, so choosing the right program
is a matter of doing your research. You could choose to obtain a Bachelor of the
Arts (BA) or a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA)- the difference between the two four year
education degree programs is that a BA typically focuses more on traditional liberal
arts coursework, while a BFA concentrates on the hands-on creation of art. Typically,
a BFA degree would note your chosen artistic focus, such as photography, film, animation,
and so forth.
If you do not want to commit to a four-year school, a number of community college's
offer associate degrees in art or certificate programs in your chosen specialty.
