Plan your future with an INFORMATION
SYSTEMS & SECURITY degree from one of these online or campus-based schools.
As with most computer related
positions, the Bureau of Labor Statistics expects faster than average job growth
in information systems until the year 2014. Job applicants with a bachelor's or master's
degree in information systems will have a chance to break into this career.
Information systems managers plan, coordinate and research the facilitation of computer
related needs for companies and organizations. Information systems managers install
software, manage and create company networks and build intranet sites.
When a network or computer related problem occurs, it is the information system manager
who analyzes and fixes it. These managers also organize the workloads of subordinates.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that median earnings for information systems
managers were about $92,570 in 2004. Software publishers made the most money in this
field, and depository and credit intermediation information systems managers made
the least.
A degree in information systems, along with some valuable high tech experience can
help you land one of these positions. The Bureau of Labor Statistics also suggests
that people in this career need strong interpersonal skills to interact with the
variety of people required to build and maintain an information system.
