can follow the stages of development and completion to a successful end.
Project managers are often the face of a project. This means that anyone involved
in a project at any stage, interacts with a project manager. The project manager
must be polite, professional and diplomatic. While a degree in management is important,
so are people skills and worldly experience. All of this contributes to the success
of a dynamic project manager.
In the last decade project management has become a career choice for many. The Project
Management Institute reports that its membership has quadrupled since 1999. There
are currently over 200,000 members.
Project managers are said to balance the "triple constraint" of time, money
and the scope of the project in question. Project managers prepare project schedules,
make site visits, and oversee various groups of workers.
Most project managers define goals and then take the steps to realize them. This
requires realistic and critical thinking skills, and plenty of real world experience.
Salary and earnings for project mangers varies depending on education, experience
and location. The Project Management Institute reports that in 2006 the median income
for full-time project managers was $96,000.
